Eyelash enhancement tattoo, also known as eyeliner tattooing, has become an increasingly popular permanent makeup solution for those wanting a defined lash line. Eyelash enhancement tattooing offers bespoke looks. Whether it be to recreate your favourite winged eyeliner style or to delicately frame your eyes with a subtle enhancement, the options are endless.
What Is Eyeliner Tattoo?
Eyeliner tattoo is a form of semi permanent make up, a cosmetic tattoo along the lash line to create an eyeliner look. Both top and bottom lash lines can be tattooed, however, water lines cannot.
In terms of the eyeliner tattoo procedure, a permanent makeup specialist uses a small amount of pigment and a digital device to lightly implant pigment colour under the skin. The end result is smudge proof, waterproof eyeliner, that looks beautiful day after day.
The initial treatment takes a few hours, with results being seen immediately. As eyeliner tattoo fades over time, we recommend a colour boost pigment top up every 12-18 months to keep your eyeliner tattoo vibrant.
Our Eyeliner Tattoo Procedure
This is what happens during the treatment:
After cleansing the area in preparation for treatment, we will discuss your preferred eyeliner tattoo shape and style.
We will look at colour swatches together and decide on the best shade to achieve your desired look.
I will measure around the eyes, assess your features, and create symmetry in mapping your eyeliner tattoo.
Then, the needling process begins. I will gently implant the pigment under the skin with a series of light, featherweight strokes. These strokes form a superficial line in your skin where the colour pigment will seep in and settle.
Upon adding the final layer of pigment and leaving it to set for five minutes, I'll clean the area one last time before you see your beautiful new eyeliner tattoo!
- A top-up session will be scheduled for around four to six weeks' time. At this stage, I will assess the results and fill in any gaps where the pigment hasn't taken.
During those four to six weeks, you'll need to follow the after-care instructions carefully and avoid scratching or picking at your eyeliner tattoo. Your eyelids will begin to heal shortly after the initial procedure, so you may feel a small amount of tenderness or irritation, just as you would with a tattoo elsewhere on the body. Rest assured, that is completely normal.
Within the first 10 days of the initial treatment, you can expect your eyeliner tattoo to fade and change in colour. The final colour and shape of your eyeliner tattoo will emerge once fully healed.
